Dear Prof.Pradeep, You donot know me,but I once had the previlege to attend one of your lectures during the 'Winter school for MSc students in Dec-2001'.I am from Pondy.Univ.;now in Univ.Of Vienna,Austria, for my PhD.I completely agree to your(& Prof.Gopinath's)views of a revised policy, though with some more inputs,if it makes sense.Being myself a victim of the resevation policy,I guess I too can see things better. 1.Apart from the ID for each student, the guardian, esp. the financier of the student should also be tagged and once either this student's-id or the financier's-id is tagged through computers throuout India,a complete description of the history of the employment should be also listed sothat atleast most of the people cannot cheat, though there are always escapers.Ofcourse, this is a long process which means every employer should take care of the same. 2.In this way, truly to start with, atleast some justice could be done with the reservation or previleges based on financial status could be implemented. 3.And yes, NO COLUMNS STATING/ASKING THE CASTE,CREED,RELIGION SHOULD BE MENTIONED IN ANY APPLICATION FORMS. I wish some such things happens... waiting eagerly...Karthik

It is because the best minds never want to take up the real challenges and busy in looking after themselves. Why don't the best minds join politics and work hard to educate the every citizen of india about the Good and bad of the existing policies and new solutions to them in a simple and effective manner? They never do so because it is easier said than done.
