Arrogant Politicians
by Giri Girishankar on Jul 05, 2006 11:51 PM   Permalink

This incident demonstrates the arrogance of Indian politicians, who have relied on parochialism, casteism and affirmative action, much to the detriment of meritocracy. Those of us who have high hopes of India growing into a world class power and respected by other nations for its knowledge and skills may have their hopes shattered by narrow minded politicians, who have the audacity to think that political power gives them the right to disrespect others with impunity. Dr. Ramadas owes his position as a Central Minister only to political opportunism. He and others like him do the country no good. The PM should spare no time to bring Ramadas to order. The country can find a replacement for Ramadas from any number of highly capable, knowledgeable and sensible professionals. The country's development is much more important than coalition politics.
