All Tom tick and Harry speaks about Sabarimala! Everyone should understand, in Hindu religion there are several rituals based on the local custom. Forget women entering the Sabarimala, Even every male should follow many restriction like, avoiding non veg, drink, smoke, sex, haircut, footwears for 48 days. One has to sleep in empty floor and not on bed. They should wear color dhothies and not pant shirt. Whoever follows these rule can enter sabarimala. The Lord Iyyappa is Brahmachary, hence even devotees are advocated to avoid sex during the 48 days. I wonder without knowing anything every body talks about freedom for women. In Hindu religion, there is Krishna with many beautiful girls. Iyyappan as Branhamachary, some deity with two wives. Some people are trying to convert Hindu religion into conditioned religion like one rule, one deity & one book! In many Tamilnadu villages, the women are priest in Mariamman temple. why all these people are making so much noise? If anybody want to follow the rules are Sabarimala let them visit, otherwise they can go to other temples which is convenient to them. many devotees are not folowing customs properly & that is the reason for this controvery!

Senthil & Hari Better read the religious books & scriptures once again carefully. Read them again & again. Also I suggest you to read "Hindusim" by Swami Vivekanand. And then better give your thoughts & suggestions. Dont be the mugger of the books. Also try to understand it. You yourself will say "Let the doors of sabrimala be open to all"!!!

Excellent answer. That is my exact point. Hindu religion is more than 8000 years old and it has evovled and is evolving. Earlier vedas where there which talked about sacrifices( not human or animal). If you do this, you will attain heaven, wealth,... But then sages came up with upanishads which talks about philosophy nothing materalistic.
Hindus can be polytheist, monotheist, monist, pantheist or atheist still being a hindu. Hindusim does not ascribe to any single book or code. There are multiple ways human beings can live and attain salvation. These are some of the ways and has been put down in the books like puranas, vedas, upanishads,... You choose your way with your justification and live accordingly. I think hindu sages overestimated the intellect of human beings. Human beings still expect like small children to be taught what they have to do each moment of the life. They do not want to think for themselves and have flexibility to choose among the diffent options.
