I walked to the famed river..
by shrikant on Jul 04, 2006 12:45 PM   Permalink

... Mithi. It had to be the same river again this time.
I reached the Andheri Kurla road, at 830AM. smooth till that time on bus route 488 from Goregaon (W) telephone exchange to SakiNaka - My ticket cost me 10 bucks...
but what I saw at Sakinaka was worth the trip.
A river flowing along the Andheri Kurla road, moving westwards towards the station... and I remembered last year... 26th July forwarded upto 4th July. Independance day in the US, but here, we are struggling under the pathetic guidance of the greatly politicised and uncontrolled administration of this city.
There was muck on the road, there was no where but towards the west that the water could flow, for there was no outlet for the water to go.
The roads are concrete, there is no natural gound/earth to absorb the water and give it the natural course into the depths. All the concrete, most places being sloped unevenly takes the water in it's most preferred slope.
for the administration, 1st time mistake, 2nd time blunder and any more such events, it should be a punishable crime.
But the administration is going to go scott free this time too.... that's India, that's Bombay, that's the politics of this city.
