I once remember our english teacher explained to us our carelessness. You people don't take my class seriously because, our goverment spends a lot of money for what I teach and you pay nothing. On the contrary, if you would have taken private tuition by paying huge sum, you would pay attention to the teacher and absorb maximum amount of knowledge because you want maximum returns from your investment. This is the sense that is likely to prevail into the mindset if the whole system is systematically demeritized. Reserved candidates first of all will not take the education seriously and in turn our great institutions will churn incompetent human resource that will further be injected to the system and to further increase the level of incompetence in the education system and elsewhere. Take a hint and make everyone earn the degree and not let them just get it because their ancestors were oppressed. You can always have fee wavier for financially challenged students with merit.
