''Kalinga Nagar was a shock''
by labrea on Jan 20, 2006 09:31 PM   Permalink

Why a shock? It's common knowledge that the tribals have always been treated like wild animals and the cops have a long history of atrocities against them. Mr Jay is still touting the old socialist line, where govt is the answer to everything. In almost all developed nations, it's private enterprise which has developed tourism sector not govt owned businesses like ITC which has been a total failure - ever heard of Las Vegas?. If private business were free to go about their business without the strangling, inhibiting interference from power-hungry netas then India would have already been a developed nation. As it stands, it may take yet another century for India to just reach the stage of development presently existing in developed countries.
