I am British and I can assure you there is respect for Hindu/Buddist ideas. Every city in Western Europe even small town has whats know as a "new age" shop. Often this shop is the community focus for "new age" people. Virtually all new age people beleive in Karma and reincarnation and most are still Christians. These people beleive that Christ preached reincarnation but this was deleted from the bible. Vegetarianism is also becoming popular in the West for spiritual and health reasons. There are many Yoga classes. Yoga is probably more widely practiced in California than many parts of India. In contrast the chuches in Europe are poorly attended. I think many Europeans are looking for spirituality not religion.
The article here is by an angry person, it is miss-guided. He is highlighting only the negative stuff. I personally don´t like art which insults hinduism but I no desire for a ban. Hindusim is strong enough to stand slurs.
Dalai Lama gives Buddism a great image in the West. Hinduism can learn from this. Dalai Lamas peaceful aura explains buddism. To promote hinduism get a peaceful aura. peace/shanti
