Saddam didnt deserve an end like this
by Sumita Das on Dec 30, 2006 09:21 PM   Permalink

I am very disappointed, though i dont know why. It has been expected that the US and allies fighting in Iraq would try to take everything away from Saddam, but I still expected a fair trial. I am not supporting the alleged misdeeds of a dictator, but I think that justice has not been done. It is simply a vigilantism, which we can do without.

Right from the very onset, the Iraq invasion has been justified by the invaders using the most spurious excuses. No weapons of mass destruction were ever found, but then Bush fabricated those flimsy moral grounds for punishing an already helpless Saddam, who had lost everything he had. Going by the same logic, didnt Bush killed thousnds in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars?

I personally feel very saddened by his death. He might have been a "tyrant dictator" who defied the world powers, but he was more successful in reigning in peace in Iraq. Look at the mess the invaders have created, in contrast.

It would have been better punishment to exile him under life imprisonment in a US jail. The US, by this latest stupid move has only further alienated the Muslim world, and created a hero out of the very person it wanted vilified.
