Dictators, Fear and Freedom.
by Divya Zachariah on Dec 30, 2006 09:41 PM   Permalink

I was greatly disturbed and shocked when I saw Saddam Hussein being led to the gallows. There was absolutely no respect for the dignity of the individual being led to his death. Well its true he killed many and was ruthless and hard. But the fact that his captors did the same thing to him proves the very character of the future leaders of Iraq.

I saw the television screens flashing pictures of the noose being tied around the condemned leader. The game is about who is more powerful.

Strangely, I have become to observe a pattern of dictatorship even in democratic nations. American leaders are fighting a war that the people of America dont support. The media out here in India are so mighty, they choose whom to dethrone and when with their breaking news. The Govt. of Karnataka has ordered a group of farmers to hand over their fertile lands to the govt. whether they like it or not.

The leaders of the world will try all kinds of methods to get us to entrust our lives in their hands, the most used method being the generation of of fear.

I fear for the loss of privacy and independence we enjoy. I dont want it to be taken away.
