Memories of a Prisoner of War
by Farhatullah Babar on Dec 08, 2006 06:23 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

Dear Sir,

In his article Memories of a Prisoner of War the author says, 'Benazir Bhutto during her premiership ordered the demolition of the old jail, and there is a public park in its place now'

This is not correct. Actually it was the government of Mian Nawaz Sharif who ordered the demolition of the old jail. When the PPP government came into power Mohtarma Bhutto cancelled the demolition orders.

The PPP government even tried to build a museum at the site but before the proposed project could take off Mohtarma Bhutto's government was dismissed.
