Did we do the right thing?
by H Rajagopal on Dec 06, 2006 08:21 PM   Permalink

For once our political leadership let the military plan and succeed in the liberation of
Bangladesh. But unfortunately what the military gained in the battle field, Indira our PM then
lost during the infamous Simla Agreement. We had the wonderful opportunity to
settle Kashmir and establish a friendly neighbour in Bangladesh. We lost it all. The
Idiotic Radcliff Award, the zigzag line which divided West and East Bengal could have been re- drawn and a saner boundry could have been established. We did not heed to the request of
Mujibur Rahman to keep our armed forces in Bagladesh to eliminate all the anti-Bangladesh elements.
We were at a position of great advantage with 98000 Pakistani POWS with us. But
as a result of the misplaced magnanimity of Indira we are still paying the price in terms of
casualties in the East and in Kashmir.
Nehru and his progeny have caused great damage to this country. The present off shoot of the same dynasty is bent upon dividing the country by breinging in reservation for Minorities in every walk of life which will pave way for yet another call for Nation within Nation.
