The 'dalit' issue
by Vidya Ramanathan on Dec 06, 2006 11:44 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

Well I find the author's argument here like that of a 3 year old! Does the author think that emotions run high only among the dalits??!! Well Mr. Udit Raj needs a complete psychiatric attention.
Mobs only follow mob pscychology and since most of the dalits are uneducated and hence unemployed they get easily aroused and hence the widespread violence.
I don't understand how having reservations in pvt sector can help one in maintaining law and order. How many dalits from the rural areas can avail of oppuritunites in the pvt sector even if the pvt sector were to declare 100% reservation only for the economically marinalised sections of the society.

Reservations are legislative (not judicial or society) response to historical social evils to certain sections of the society.
Government should scrap reservations when 85% of marriages in India are inter-caste or inter-religious.
