by I.SRINIVAS on Dec 06, 2006 10:45 AM   Permalink | Hide replies

1)Ram vilas Paswan said on the floor of the parliament while in Deve Gowda`s cabinet "we did not allow a single Brahmin to become a minister in our government".That`s how he helped Dalits
2)Dalits are divided among themselves into four main castes ,each treating the other as enemies.Scavengers are treated as the lowest by"Upper caste" Dalits themselves.
3)No collective dining or inter caste marriages are done among various dalit csstes, for example a chamar never marries a scavanger.
4)Dalit leaders like Paswan and Mayawathi never helped poorer dalits to come into limelight.
5)Left parties which swear by "classless societies " are headed by only upper caste Hindus
6)Reservations to Dalit Christians (who are also socially challenged)is opposed by Dalit Hindus to prevent dilution of their special facilities.

Reservations are legislative (not judicial or society) response to historical social evils to certain sections of the society.
Government should scrap reservations when 85% of marriages in India are inter-caste or inter-religious.
