Vande Matram......
by K. K. Sinha on Aug 24, 2006 05:36 PM   Permalink

The song Vande Matram... as we know it was authored by Sri Bankim Chandra and made popular thru his famous book Santaan Vidroha, that aroused the intense anti British feelings. Because in the begining the Indian National Congress, though aspiring for freedom of the country, did not want to take such a pronounced anti british stand, it did not adopt the song as its theme song. It adopted 'Jhanda Oonchaa Rahe Hamaara' and later Jana Gana Mana.. as its theme song. However, Vande Matram.. continued to inspire all freedom fighters and martyers. Because it envisioned united and greater India, the separatist muslims did not like it.
