Vande Mataram to me...
by TARUN BHATNAGAR on Aug 24, 2006 02:04 PM   Permalink

Any person, group, community or religion that puts itself ahead of the NATION gives me cause for concern.

When I recite Vande Mataram , i don't and no one should think about their religion. If you are saluting the nation then you should not find excuses to avoid doing it because of any reason whatsoever.

Patriotism and religious fervour are two different aspects but excess of the latter can only lead to disaster.

Since the Indian polity has never allowed the common man to get out of the vicious circle of Roti, kapda & Makaan - the patriotic feeling which should be at the fore-front does not fill the heart with the same emotion that some religious feeling does.

India can be called secular because the majority believe in Vande Mataram, else, in an age when all beliefs should evolve with time, going back to religion for defying a national voice is totally unjustified. It is ill-ominous for a nation that already has community-pacification as the mool-mantra of the ruling parties.

The longest constitution in the world creates loopholes for politicians and confusion for the common man who does not have time for detail.Make things simple & effective.

VANDE MATARAM & JAI HIND !!
