Another Alternative to Vandemataram
by Akbar on Aug 25, 2006 09:49 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

I find Iqbal's song Saare "Jahan Se Accha.." offensive as it refers to India as "Hindustan" which means id offensive because it means "Land of Hindus". Which ignores India's secularist outlook and excludes all non-Hindus. Also This is a name given to this region by not the original inhabitants but by plunderers and invaders out side of India.

Akbarbhai,

Search some history to find the root of the word Hind. It does not have anything to do with Hindu religion. Hindu, in the original sense, is not a religious denomination, but refers to the resident of Hind region. Hope you have heard of Indus VC and all
