Mr Tarun,
Your column shows that you apparently don't have understanding of national affairs particularly matters military or you are just writing this to ridicule Mr Jaswant for the reasons best known to you.You don't have to use the force always. The "force in being "itself is ä weapon which can be used to equal effects.I know this episode of not going in action is being used against the party in power at time, but to score a political point is incorrect. What was the purpose of "prakaram" ?The aim was well served.Just because the nation was prepared to go for war does not mean that you have to launch the operations. If by the show of force the purpose is served so be it.A lot of damage to the nation is averted by not going to war.We would have got the same results even after allout war.In fact the govt at that time should be credited for not going for allout war and still achieve the results.Bravery is not by getting killed but by achieving the national goals. It is sad that the common people are shown an incorrect picture of the whole affairs.Imagine how many lives have been saved and that also of common people of the country.Lets be realistic. Thanks
