There is no reason why the cops cannot file charges against Nayak under the relevant criminal codes and bring out the details of his misconduct during the trial. And, unless he's a flight risk, the judge is correct in awarding bail. Frankly, Indian cops are incompetent, inept, unprofessional bungling buffoons, who haven't the faintest idea of proper investigative proceedures, so they get people into the station and beat the heck out of them to get a confession, which they produce in court as eveidence rather than hard evidence culled from a proper investigation. Besides, everyone knows - the cops are The Mafia!
