read the whole article, the author's point can easily be bought and I almost did. But, he himself mentioned that whole mumbai has this discrimination problem and it's not targetted towards muslims then how can he make a generalized statement (the title itself) like: "Why I won't live among Hindus"...Moreover a multicultural society doesn't mean it forces one to mix with different people; it allows/gives opportunity to do so and that totallly depends on individuals to follow it or not. If some locality have laid down some rules, what's the harm...someday one may as well say that the
xyz locality doesn't allow people to 'spit' on the roads!
Maybe he didn't look hard enough, and was too much in a hurry to generalize all his statements. It's always best to forgive and forget than trying to add fuel to a non-existent fire! Why this article? Only, b'cos we have the "right to free expression"?...enjoy the luxury then!!

You only have to read the messages posted to feel the extent of the divide and the disgusting intolerance among supposedly educated people who visit Rediff.com. I don't think he has exaggerated at all and i think more and more people should talk out loud to make everyone look inwards and think. I thought it would be a minority who oppose the Mr. Syed's views... Alas, the theme running through majority of messages posted in response is even more shocking. The minds of the middle class that is supposed to provide "thought leadership" are corrupted and deteriorated, perhaps beyond repair.
