Secure the secularity
by Harsh dutta on Apr 11, 2006 11:51 AM   Permalink

This write-up is quite an embarassment for all the Indians. Why can't we look at the other person as just another human? I feel India is just secular on paper. I have friends of all religions - hindus, muslims, Sikhs, Jains - and there has never been any discrimination.

India's no.1 filmstar is a Muslim and he is admired because of his talents and not religion. Take for example, India's President is a Muslim and Prime Minister a Sikh. When there are such great examples of scularism, then why cannot certain Indian be friendly with each others.

I really empathise with the writer here, who tried to get into a Hindu locality (I even don't like writing on these lines). How can we save India from foreign invasions if we are so broken inside. It's time every Indian realises that we are one, and if it takes some heart and challenge to call the person of other religion his brother, then we are up for it.
