Jesus as a man exhibited fear only once in his life,at Gethsemane when he was about to receive his "cup of suffering". If one takes the time to read any of the 4 gospels, this is very clear. Transcending human compulsions was Jesus' trademark along with an infinite empathy with it.
"...you will exceed all of them. You will sacrifice the flesh that clothes me." is Jesus, the messiah, the prophet and the man. The interpretations are many but I think the following makes the most sense. Jesus knew what was to happen to him and he loved Judas as a true preacher practises what he preaches. Judas would betray him in the end, and Jesus accepted it completely and he understood that his betrayal is only the stepping stone towards his suffering on the cross, he transcended the petty meaning of betrayal to tell Judas of the enormous spiritual nature of what Judas was about to do. To label it conspiracy displays an extremely superficial understanding of the life of Jesus.
