I am thankful for the nice article and for the umpteenth time, I will again stand on my head and scream it is all in management, idiots. Our people are proven useless in diplomacy. I saw them spending time shopping and eating good food in New York, as if they were in vacation. The entourage of PM's office kept loudly chatting amongst themselves in Hindi. Where is our professionalism? They were mostly Delhi based bureaucrats and journalists and looked like tourists: "namaste ji...new york trip kaisa raha"-types. Foreign media were not courted; every single event organized was not even mismanaged: it was not managed at all! Can any one explain why I see amateurish people running around and not doing the sole job they are hired to do! In the dinner, PM was late and sleepy. Ambassador Sen was not prepared even with three lines of well scripted words to introduce PM. He was visibly searching for words! The huge cost of renting Hilton grand ball room was wasted without any diplomatic gains. Also the delhi babus were knocking the microphone in frerquent intervals with their knuckles as if they were expected to malfunction every three minute! Dr, Singh, can we privatize our govt please!
