Sania and the dress code
by Rajah P.C.Deo Bhanj.(Ex MP) on Sep 16, 2005 03:10 AM   Permalink | Hide replies

After a long time, one sees a pretty young Indian girl like Sania climbing her way to the top in the world of tennis, which is a great achievement for India. It is most disheartening that some people are criticizing her for the clothes she wears, while she is on the court playing world class tennis. While all the women tennis players the world over, wear the same type of clothes,it is very wrong to blame Sania for wearing the same dress, with which it is easy to play tennis.Let the people who are against Sania's dress code, say what they want to.It is absolutely correct on the part of the charming young athelite of Hyderabad,to wear what she feels is comfortable, while she plays world class tennis. She has already proved that she is one of India's up and coming tennis champions and the entire country is behind her.May God take this young lady up and up in the world of tennis and make her one of India's shining stars.

Well Mr. Farhan,

Tennis is a game that originated in the west and therefore players follow a dress code subscribed by the west. Sania can't exactly go there in the court wearing a burkha. Can she?

And just give us a good reason why Sania Mirza must wear T-shirt and shorts insetad of what she wears. Do you think she would be more decently dressed wearing a pair of shorts as opposed to a skirt?

As far as the Maulvi's comment are concerned, they are not only null and void, its a shame on democracy.

Let's Sania play her game and let us, as a country, encourage her instead of pondering how short her skirt is. It does not matter.

Dear friends,Let me tell that Islam is just not a religion, its a miracle of sciences. Its unfortunate that the followers of Islam have not been as enterprising as other commmunities but the fact abt the truthness of religion remains..Its the order of Allah in Quran thaat woman while addressing men must keep hr body covered strictly except Hands& face..Regardinf Tennis a certain exceptions can work but not to that extent that people start taking Photos for sharing across media for fun..
So irrespective of whatever a Muslim woman do,she must respecrt Islamic Principle as a prority...
As regards Fanatics we all must be sorry for that becoz Fanatism has no place in Islam...

Are trying to tell us Dr. Farhan that the best outfit for Sania would be a t-shirt and shorts similar to those of men's tennis costumes. If covering the body is the major issue here then I ask you this... how is your suggested outfit any better than Sania's, considering... the traditional Muslim attire for a woman is a BURKA!?

Dr Farhan,

Your observation is correct. I think you forgot that you live in India, people have much better rights then in any other nation (developing nations). It is sania's decision what to wear when she is playing. It is not yours or mine or people who do not do anything constructive other than issuing fatwas.

Well, If you all read my comment carefully,I have not mentioned anywhere what and how sania should wear.Thats absolutely her decision.I was just pointing out that wearing a skimpy T-shirt and a mini skirt is actually NOT NECESSARY to increase the speed and agility in the game of tennis. If that was the case , then today's men require much more speed and agility and they should have worn almost nothing then!!!
What sania is wering is for her own reasons and choice rather than the game of tennis.
Please develop a habit of reading properly before answering.
Thanks.
