Test Case to Find Pak Intentions.
by James Kallery on Sep 15, 2005 11:16 AM   Permalink

Though release of a single individual should not be made central to carrying on of the peace process between India and Pakistan, it can be used as a test case to ascertain the genuineness of Pak intentions. We have always been making peace overtures to Pakistan, only to be stabbed in the back (remember Kargil) time and time again. If Pak is serious about peace this time, it should not let the opportunity to show it's commitment to the peace process pass. After all one individual cannot be lager than the commitment to peace. Cheap (Sarabjit chip) bargaining shows that it wants to eke out more than its fair share, using any means possible. Can we have genuine peace with such people harboring such intentions?
