It is an excelent analysis of the sitation. I want to add that the congressmen besides transforming their party into nondemocratic relying unduely on this dynasty for leadership to ensure (pseudo)cohesiveness among themselves, have deprived the nation of an opportunity of developing a within party democracy. That is the reason there is no democratic functioning in all our political parties.
Secondly, I want to put a quesion in response to the question asked in the last line.Do we (Indian voters) elect our representative or chose a king/queen for ourselves? Dhanesh

Yes, we actually choose kings/queens. If the king doesn't rule well, we choose another king after 5 years. Meanwhile, the earlier king has 5 years to loot the nation. All our parties know this. The illegal benefits are much more than the ignominy of defeat after 5 years. We cannot do anything but cast one vote to choose the king. Democracy here doen't mean a government for the people. It is only one elected by the people. It would have been better if we had the rajya sabha like system. Elections should be held every year in different parts of the country. A party should rule as long as they have the majority (simple) in the house. Constant elections will have some pressure on the parties.
