reply to Mr Mir on lessons of Oct 8
by ROHIT on Oct 17, 2005 12:09 AM   Permalink

I enjoy reading Mr. Mir's honest comments and would like to reply on the percieved prickly issue of India providing help and publicizing it .
First of all ,why is it a sensitive issue at all for the Pakistanis ? Why isn't Musharraf a man enough to honestly admit and acknowledge the gesture ? Does such devastation merit ditherting at this point ? Does accepting it two days later make it politically better ?
Scoring a few brownie points over an issue is part of life. I was reading on CNN today that the US airforce provided equipment to unload suplies from an Iranian aircraft. Did the Iranians make a mockery of themselves by denying it in their media ? They had better things to do I suppose.
Why the heavens are pakistanis so caught up in having parity or playing catch up from every issue that impacts India and pssibly them ? Look at the nuclear deal. They have been crying to have one too now.
I am also amused at references in the Indian media of a "historic opprtunity missed" . How the heavens can you turn around a corner when one party has not matured over the years to decently acknowledge even small offer. Kudos to the Indian army in doing a splendid job.
