I have been in Chennai for the past two years, and some of the \"scenes\" are purely absurd - a good mix of half-truths and lies at the best, and without any corroborations or explanations.
Are you telling me that the moral police don\'t exist in other cities? You are talking about engineering institutions - obviously you then know which ones, and who runs them. Why don\'t you speak out about them, if you are so concerned? Such institutions exist elsewhere too. If this is one extreme, perhaps Delhi is on the other - what with its MMS scandals and frequent rapes?
Agreed that Chennai is Conservative (yes, a capital \'C\'), and is not as suave or urbane as other metros. However, to generalize the nature of a city based on some specific instances is not right. There is a difference between \'a cop in Mumbai raped a girl\' and \'Mumbai cops rape girls\' - isn\'t it?
It is not without reasons that the first three paragraphs of your article are true.
