This article captures the true essence of the city as such... a pedantic adherances to an old set of normatively degenerate set of values and beliefs that has not changed in its outlook in comparison to other major cities of India.

Well,Mr.Arvindh no one was raising the isue of politics here!! You, are the one bringing politics into this!!!! give us a break dude!!!! Ofcourse Chennai is an awesome place..but READ,UNDERSTAND,FEEL what the author of the subject is trying o portray.Don't go on the Patriotic Defensive rite away and bring politics rite away!!! the author of the article mite not even be in India or even maybe a foreigner ..so thnk about it Dude. You Mr.Arvindh could avoid bringing POLITICS into this topic..that would surely goa long way in viewer's having to express their true inner feelings instead of having to be distracted so abruptly!!! It is quite obvious that you haven't understood the subject at all..'coz if you had, your reply would have been detailed and more respectful of the Author's opinion.this is not a debate.!!!!

I think it is only worse...I am staying here for the last 3 years and it looks there are more hypocrites in Chennai than rest of the country.

Big Brother says that in very soon in Chennai, young boys and girls above the age of 10 will necessarily have to respect the following great traditional dress culture of the Tamilians:
Boys: mundu with angavastaram.
Girls: half sarees till age 18 and full 9 yarders after they touch 18.
Hail Chennai University! Hail Big Brother!! Hai Amma!!!

What do you mean? So you put a rubber stamp saying that "Chennai has least corruption," and everybody says "Yeah." Hello! Ms. Jayalalitha is CM of Tamil Naidu. She got re-elected despite all her activities. And here you are talking about corruption. B.T.W What has corruption to do with this article. This is in like of Shiv Sena in Mumbai getting into moral policing. Complete BS. Chennaians should come out on the street and take some steps to stop this kind of things from happening. It is utterly rubbish.

Whom are u bullshitting... i have lived in Chennai for 3 years.... my worst nightmare live.... people out there are the most uncultured, raw, cheap people u can find... thats irrespective of caste, creed, religion, age bla bla bla... first there is no respect for women... especially with women who have modern thinking and is little bit forward.... i have lived in Mumbai too... i see the cultural difference.... chennai people and its overall public culture is very cheap and bad.... first, people in chennai should learn to respect others lives and learn to give space. my friend and his wife was arrested in Beasant nagar beach for prostitution because they were sitting in an isolated area, howz that?? Now i live in UK and i think India is 500 years behind developed nation in terms of respecting people and giving space. indians have no right to talk bad about western culture. they are 1000 times better than Indian culture because Indians think of only sex and dont do it or do it secratively and westerners think of everything else and when they need sex they have it. Westerners are any day better than Indians... shame on Chennai for not improving its lifestyle and culture
In the article nobody is saying Chennai is corrupted. The article is saying Chennai is impractically conservative and mindlessly hypocritical. Understand that it is time to come out of this age-old conservative mentality, and become civilized.
P.S: Suggestion to all Chennaites, please learn HINDI, u guys are so easy with English which is a foreign language, from the other side the globe, but you mean minded dogs dont even try to learn your own National Language.

Iam totally against the author. Plz dont write such things. I spent 2 years in mumbai. I have seen people sitting on Bandstand in intimate positions publicly. It may be good for them but definetly not for public.
Chennai is very good place to live, very traditional and barthanatyam is far better then Discos and remixes. I am not chennite..I am hyderabadi, inspite of it I love chennai the most.

If something is wrong..it will be told.. Chennai is on the global map now..but people and culture are still stuck way back..need to get educated on world culture and vision..come out of the stone age fast..if not this is how people vent out their furstation for a prehistoric stone age..attitude of the Big Brother.
