An Eye Opener Decision
by Ram Sumiran on Nov 21, 2005 05:19 PM   Permalink

This section 24 of HMA (Hindu Marriage Act) was misused by ladies for a long time. The court is absolutely right in giving the equal status to husband. I also feel husbands should also be treated in respect of 498A ipc. He should also be given right to lodge harrassment or mental torture case against his wife. For this, the word "husband" should be replaced by word "spouse" in section 498A of IPC.

The court must intervene in this matter also and make changes in 498A.
