rekindle the bad feelings
by Saurab on Nov 02, 2005 01:04 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

I am not sure why Ms Payal wants to re-open wounds of the past. Those were the black days which ought to be remembered from only one perspective - learning that religious riots are always detrimental to our nation (& its people) and so they must not be allowed to happen again.

However, Ms Payal seems to be rekindling the feelings of hatred once again, rather than highlighting the learnings from this past incidence.

I request the journalist to be more responsible when publishing something like this.

Y let a criminal get away? Killing of innocent ppl is not acceptable, but then criminals r not be set loose....for years whtever has happened in Punjab how do u justify tht, tell me how has it helped sikhs who along with hindus for all those years have lived under the shadow of fear. Sikhs will want to have seperate Khalistan then some other state or community will to want to seperate.....then wht....we have to live as Indians and not as hindus, sikhs, muslims or christians

  India is secular

Our President is a Muslim, Our PM is a sikh , the president of the ruling national party is a Catholic...what more proof u need for India's secularity.
remember,Still the USA is not ready to have a black president.. yet its called a superpower.

In a country of a billion people and 70% of them Hindus, there is no surprise that the Hindus dominate other minorities.
but that does'nt mean the minorities are left on the streets to rot .

Nobody is saying that what happened was correct. As to the question about terrorists hiding in a hindu temple, well, if I was an army officer and they killed 200 of my men, I would probably go after them with full force rather than sit behind. Remember that Indira Gandhi insisted on keeping the same security guards even after she was advised to change them. Sikhs are good people, unfortunately all this happened.

About the Riots, I genuinely feel responsible people must be brought to justice. The very fact that they were not shows the quality of governance in our country.

Dear Sodhi, Please don't look at the problem at a communal angle. Dont take the hooligans who roamed the streets of Delhi and Gujarat as representatives of Hindu majority. They are hooligans. Hooligans don't belong to any religion. They merely do what their political masters say. What happened in Delhi and Gujarat is failure of Law and order machinery and lack of Accountability of Political Leaders.
