I am surprised by the views of the author which is exactly in line with my thought while discussing ths issue with my friends last week.
It is high time for India to completely review its stance and its "principles towards its foreign policy and external affairs".
After the death of erstwhile USSR the UN becomes the mouth piece of USA and the Secretary General as its drummer.
What India has achieved sofar by its principled stance ? The net result is Nothing. We send our soldiers for Peacekeeping operations world wide while the Bangladesis drag our BSF commander Jeevankumar and torture to death. Our politicians concentrate more on disrupting and abstaining from the Parlimentry activities rather than persuading to take action against the culprits. It is not the first time Bangladeshis are doing this type of act as 16 Indian jawans were stripped and tortured to death during 2002. Where were the UN and "peace loving nations" ?
India is a self-sufficient country and pulling out of UN won't do much against its interest.
India should seriously consider from pulling out of UN rather than heading a spineless organisation like NAM.
