I am not a fan of Mr Modi. However, as an Indian, I feel that the US has crossed all limits of decency in denying the Visa on flimsy grounds. Had the NDA been in power or had he been a central minister, would the US dared to have indulged in such illegal activities? Modi has rightly pointed out, "Tomorrow if the American army chief seeks to visit India, should we look at the US track record in Iraq and deny him a visa?" He has also told that the same US treats Gen Musharraf differently although the human rights violation of Pakistan are well known.
The Indian Government should not take it lying down if ever they are serious about the prestige of India. It is not a matter of "Tit for Tat" but our PM should refuse to accept the invitation extended by the Bush administration to visit US unless they regret the incident and give a diplomatic Visa to Modi. What happens within the country is our concern and our courts are competent enough to castigate Modi if there is any case against him.
