India feilding Musharraf's shots
by Abhishek Das on Mar 17, 2005 02:08 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

Despite numerous experiences to the contrary, India continues to believe whatever overtures Pakistani heads of state, especially Pervez Musharraf makes. Most surprising is the attitude of the Indian media especially electronic media. Yesterday on NDTV, some over-eager journo kept on following Musharraf's family all around Delhi. Later to finish the story he said "Wherever they go they will be followed by the Media" !! Why should the Indian media follow them? This Pak fixation in the media is unexplicable. Why the hell cant we view it like some other country? All this talk of unhealed wounds is total hogwash. "Veer Zaara" being pro-Pakistan,was a hit while "Lakshya" was a flop because it was anti, is just taking things a bit too far.
Bottomline is these two teams play good cricket together, just as they play good cricket with other teams. An India-Australia encounter would be as riveting as an India-Pakistan one.
An India-centric attitude has brought Pakistan where it is today. That is the peril we face if we and especially our media continue our unilateral focus on Pakistan.
