Jaswant did this to win browny points from Strobe Talbott. It was not based on any reasonable decision making process after the war or strategic implications. It was all about pleasing temporary US State department faces; just like Indira in 1971 and Nehru in 1947 - let go part of J&K to please the UN mandarins, ignore national and strategic interests.
I am glad the army is holding its own on Siachen. But we can expect the same old silly politicians will want to curry favour with temporary western faces and let it go, all the while explaining away that how it actually in India's national interest. I am sure peaceniks will be happy to barter away more land to appease the terror demons.

Siachin does hold strategic importance thats why Indian army invaded this no-man's land. Beaten by China and Pakistan in 60's India started fighting politically, it were Indian politicians that made Bangladesh.
Bangladesh was not a military triumph. It was the political triumph of India that made east Pakistani people go against west Pakistani people. If you dont have nation with you, you cannot win a war. Same thing is Pakistan doing in Kashmir; Kashmiris are not with India now. Start counting years when Pakistan will get other half of Kashmir too.

yea rite, people like you have been counting years since 1947 ..keep waiting for something thats not going 2 happen :), oh look, you only lost your eastern part while trying 2 execute your well stated plans.
