Siachen Does Matter
by Harish Dunakhe on Jun 29, 2005 02:18 PM   Permalink

Dear Sir,
I have been following India's stand on world politics since few years. It is crystal clear that Indian Military is much more powerful than Indian Politics and Indian Society. Your article clarifies Indian stand and strengthens our opinion of having soldiers at Siachen. I would like to put my views on this issue. Indians must realise that only brave-heart has a right to forgive. We hide our political timidity under the rosy name of 'peace-loving country'. I would like to live in a country who has self esteem, which does not get pressurized by so-called global care-takers. But for that we need more people like Dr. Anil Athale who call spade a spade. I have seen people calling our politicians incapable of their job. We must remember that, these politicians are our representatives-we have elected them. If we really want to change global Indian picture, we need good people entering politics. We need defense personell, engineers, doctors, honest people joining politics. We can also have 2 years compulsary military training to civilians after graduation. It will create pride in everyone for being Indian. It's easy to blame but difficult to act.
