Hall
by A V Koshy on Jun 14, 2005 11:03 AM   Permalink

Kudos to these Indian gentlemen who have once again proved that action is so much more louder than words. Complete appreciation to them for standing up and declaring that though Jinnah or his family members have anything to do with the hall, they would not succumb to pressure and rename it just for the sake of renaming it.

They are the true secularists. They understand that names dont make a man. They understand that the hall was once named after a person whose credentials as an Indian patriot was unimpeachable, his actions said so. In his later life, he was blatantly biased, no doubt, but it was not simply his fault alone. The Congress and the british both were at fault as much as he and the League.

Renaming a hall would have had unecessary connotations and they preferred to let them be.

They understood that everyone has their own version of history. The question is do we have the sense to understand it too?
