Millions of dollars have been poured into analysis about counter-terrorism. The 9/11 commission report itself is no less than 500 pages (the endnotes are really good).

And here we have the laziest, most incompetent analysis that's no better than the biggest "duh" that can be posted on the author's forehead.

Why don't I just come up with 17 lessons and rehash everything that has been said about terrorism for the past two decades, infuse it with my own two cents on what I think is the real problem (it's those damn Americans! let me shake my fist!) and pass it along for what counts as a column.

This isn't a column. This isn't even a pillar. It's more like a broken brick that lies on the side of the road. You know it was part of some big pile of bricks used for some construction somewhere. But by itself, it's useless
