Your article ... Cry, my beloved India
by Bipin Mehta on Feb 04, 2005 05:56 PM   Permalink

Dear Mr Francis (or Francois whoever you may be),

I think you have written this article with glasses of 'religion' on your eyes ... first point ... 'India is not a Hindu state' ... and this DOESNOT mean that 'Hindus are neglected or oppressed or not represented in India'. You mention that this is a country where the Prime Minister is a Sikh and the President is a Muslim. Yes they are ... and we are very proud of them because they are representing the country very well. In India people follow what works well for them and what they believe is right. So it doesnt matter if any Tom, Dick or Harry or some Mr Benny Hinn comes and tries to 'force' his views on the public. Nor does it matter if Shankaracharya's image is tarnished.
I feel you are very biased about stating events and very 'conviniently' forgetting events such as riots that took place after the Godhra incident.
Agreed ... we have a lot of problems and we are fighting against it but that doesnot mean you can just go about bragging anything that comes to your mind.
Please get this straight ... India is a country of 'Indians' and please concentrate of your western problems

Bipin
