In the name of religion
by Ranjit Kommineni on Aug 30, 2005 02:47 AM   Permalink | Hide replies

Let me begin by saying that I'm very glad that such an article has been written. For long we have seen a lot of atrocities being committed in the name of religion etc. Usually they are followed by reasons why they were done. It is a welcome change to see an article that condemns violence be it for any reason. It is always the innocent people who bear the brunt and go through the hardships.

But It does not matter what any religion says as long as we cannot respect and have concern for those who donot belong to our fraternity. There are always going to be animosity and issues that cannot be resolved. We can have a peaceful planet when all the people of earth follow the principle of 'live and let live' in principle and spirit and not only in letter and talk. This can be a solution for everlasting peace. If there is any other please do let us know. It is a very difficult objective nevertheless everyone of us should work towards it.

If you really want to know what Islam is then you will have to shun thoughts such as Islam spread by the sword / Why did the Prophet (pbuh) had so many wives etc and etc. The answers to such criticism has been given on numerous occasions.

Also there are no mistakes in the Quran (you mention that the prophet (PBUH) should have corrected the mistakes). The All-Knowing and All-Wise Allah cannot make mistakes. The only problem is that some people may interpret verses in a way that meets their agenda but this does not mean the correct interpretation by the learned scholars is not available. In fact interpretations by the companions of the Prophet are also available.

It cannot be emphasized much that Islam is not support killing of any human (for any life) unjustly. Killing a person (innocent) is like killing all of humanity and saving the live of a human is like saving all of humanity.

I pray that you will study the facts and may Allah guide you in seeking the truth.
