Sir, While I thank you for ringing the alarm bells as far as the AIDS crisis is concerned, I have my strong doubts if we as a nation are geared up to deal with this crisis.
First of all we should be concerned as to how we allowed a deadly disease like AIDS, reach such alarming proportions.For how long will we remain alien to terms like prevention and precaution. Secondly as rightly pointed out by you that though our public healthcare system, has the biggest role to play, we all know how well it is equipped to deal with this calamity. What to say of a public healthcare system which till date has not been able to deal with Malaria, TB or typhoid. To add to all this our status as a developing nation riddled by extreme poverty, will create its own share of hinderences to deal with something as dangerous as AIDS. So where do we go from here. I think we will have to work on multiple levels,with all the sincerity, intensity and most importantly with ferocious pace. Though the disease has already blown out of proportion in India, it will have to be the people of India (Who have allowed AIDS to grow all this while) to deal with it on a war footing.
