A crime worse than Modi's

I agree entirely with the views of Sai but I fail to understand why we blame ONLY the politicians. Regardless of the "instructions" from their political masters, the Police Commisisoners, DCPs and eveyone down the line also took an oath to uphold the Constituion of India and to serve and to protect. Why were the Police Commissioners of New Delhi in 1984, of Mumbai in 1992-93 and later on in Ahmedabad so spineless? In fact they should be charged for aiding and abetting the riots and hauled off to jail.

I recall a show on TV where a Minister agreed that there was political intereference but this was because every morning there was a line of IPS officers with hands folded and heads bowed begging the minister to interfere. In fact the minister went on to say that if a Police Commissioner did not obey "instructions" which were wrong nothing could happen to him except a transfer. And if the officer is sincere he should go whereever he is transferred since his seniority and pay scale are in any case protected.

So while we blame politicians for instigating or being passive at the time of riots let us not forget to condemn the spineless police officers who cannot control the riots.
