Mumbai No Shanghai

Its true that what happened was a natural calamity but the outcome that followed was due to bad planning and foresight. The city was just allowed to grow out of proportions.why cannot we Indians plan?We have seen what one night of rains did to the most happening business capital of India. But saddest part is that most of the other Indian Towns and cities are on the pathways to the same hell.Do we have a single city which boasts of smooth power, electricity and water supply in India? We have over the past few years seen most of our cities touting about tall malls and multi storeys but what about the slums hovering at their bases? Its a story of perfect imbalances. India cannot progress if we ignore the basic problems of population, and infrastucture.
We have seen that the government has failed. But why waste time blaming only the government? why cant the moneyed filmstars who earn in crores for a single project get together along with other industrialists and create a corpus fund for planned development of our business capital? What about our beauty queens who talk about world charity and peace? Shouldnt charity begin at home?
