It is unfortunate that in spite of the immeasurable human miseries caused by the two world wars and all other minor wars till date, people still want to believe in weapons. It is politicians in both Pakistan and India who are constantly kindling the fear of insecurity among people. Of course china is another country that is seen as a threat. The arms industry in the world and particularly developed countries with a large defense industry never let go a chance to add fuel to the fire of national insecurity.Call it by whatever name, give it any justification, the ultimate truth is that it is an unproductive expenditure. The root cause of all insecurity is distrust. Trillions and trillions of dollars spent on security only provides the measure of growing distrust among countries and people. If only the world could stop this mad rush for arms, we could eliminate poverty from the face of the earth. It is a question of changing national values. What makes you feel proud. Will you feel better when you say that we have no poverty in this country or that we have killed so many enemy soldiers and so many of our own. Arms race is madness, which is needed to satisfy the ego of politicians with false national pride and businessmen interested in making quick money.

From historical times we were a weaponised nations. To protect good we have waged wars. When we believed in peace and did not wage war to protect ourself, we were held as slaves for 400 years. No one need such slavery anymore.
