India plans to have 500 airports by 2020
India's Civil Aviation Ministry has set a target of having 500 operational airports in the next 12 years.
Presently, India has only 80 fully functional airports equipped to handle scheduled commercial, charter and defence services.

Yeah, by that way they can clear whatever greenery is left in this country. From an aerial view, the whole country will look filled with buildings and airports.

I would suggest them to have fewer big airports with better road connectivity than large number of small airports which will have lots of environmental impact. After all, roads are more important for most people.
