Since Sichuan is located in proximity of the Three Gorges Dam, this could be a dam induced quake. The Chinese should seriously examine all parameters. Already the Yangtze basin is witnessing large-scale displacement all along the river.

No, the earthquake has occurred due to the fracturing of north east striking reverse fault in sichuan province which has accumulated huge stress due to the thrusting of himalayas of Indian plate onto the Eurasian plate.
