What I dont understand is how did he shortlist MIT, stanford, Caltech and HArvard without knowing that they are top colleges? And what exactly is the fees for SAT? Is it free or what? and surely Application to these colleges must cost keaven and earth. My pa brings home 30000 and still I couldnt afford it for my MS.
But all the same, MY VERY BEST WISHES TO YOU ANSHUMAN, GOD BLESS AND MAY ALL YOUR DREAMS COME TRUE

MIT is well known in West Bengal, as the finance minister of West Bengal is a PhD from MIT. According to The Telegraph, his school teachers helped him a lot, as he was the best students for the previous few years and stood 6th in the Secondary examination already.

It seems there was some mis communication during interview. It is true that he had no idea about those institutes. He got some info about MIT in news paper then he tried to get info and found that he need to appear for SAT. In the mean time he got some info about top colleges from his contacts and from internet and then applied. It is true that it was dificult for him to arrange SAT fees or MIT fees. But he got help from his relatives for this and as he stood 6th in madhyamik (10th exam of west bengal) he got some scholership from "Dunlop" which also helped. And yes he got full scholarship from MIT :)
