China's case is different
by shibu s on Jul 08, 2008 09:40 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

It should be rememberd that China signed Nuke deal without Hyde act...they took 13 years to finalise the rules in the agrement...Hyde act give supreme authority to US senate to amend any rules in 1-2-3 agreement without the consent of other country..

Left raised a few q's whihc is outlined below and it is quite unfortunate that National media tried to showcase it as 'Left opposing Nuclear energy'..

They were against Hyde act and not against using Nuclear Energy..

The key concerns expressed by the Left Parties regarding the IAEA Safeguards Agreement and which have not been addressed by the UPA are the following:

In case the US or other countries in the NSG renege on fuel supply assurances for imported reactors, will we have the ability to withdraw these reactors from IAEA safeguards?

If US/NSG countries renege on fuel supply assurances, can we withdraw our indigenous civilian reactors from IAEA Safeguards?

If we have to bring nuclear fuel from the non-safeguarded part of our nuclear programme for these reactors in case of fuel supply assurances not being fulfilled, will we have the ability to take it back again?

What are the corrective steps that India can take if fuel supplies are interrupted by the US/NSG countries?

What are the conditions that India will have to fulfill if the corrective steps are to be put into operation?

Dear Shibu, We have nothing to do with Chinese policies and hence such a comparison is irrelevant. We need political parties originated from our Country and not the one with its roots in another country. If our CPM comrades really want to represent our working class or those who live in poverty and agony, let them form an exlusive Party for the poor and needy with full Indian entity. More people will love them and will join them. Now everybody see CPM as a party of Chinese Origin and that image should be changed. As you will find, Congress has its roots in India and even BJP has and if they are not functioning in the way as the present CPM leaders think, then let them form a party which should be born and brought up in India. If so, many more people will join them. How BJP became a leading party in India within a short period ?
