This is one of the few things the UPA is getting right. We need Iran's oil and gas and also need to prevent Iran from backing Pakistan against us. More over, the USA is not likely to abandon their relationship with India over this issue. There isn't much to lose, only gain from this stand. The fundamental issue is that you can influence a friend better than you can a foe. India mayl emerge as a major interlocutor between Iran and USA.

it is not the question of oil or what. it is the question of standing beside the righteous person and nation. every one knows that iran has got full right to develop but those who want to crush and keep crushing weak nations, dont want any one to progress as it will jeopardise their greedy intentions.
we must support who thrive for their right, intoday's world even talking about your rights is jihad and we all (any one who thinks he is right irrespective of their race,region and religion) must do this jihad (struggle hard for this)...

Well ! Even Hitler thought what he was doing is right. The country's foriegn policy cannot be driven by emotions. Look what happened with 'hindi chini bhai bhai'. Nehru was a foolish romantic, and the country had to pay for his foolishness.
