Yes. God is one in terms of spiritual context. We can understand god only when we know our true identity. Know thyself, realise thyself. When we understand that we are spirit (soul, atma, ruh. etc....)then only we can be able to understand param atma, Supreme soul. There is a clear demarcation between spirituality and religion according to indian wisdom. Religions are many. but spirituality is one. You are right about what HInduism stands for. But only problem is our holy men and kings in those days did not propagate this spirituality to all. They treated lower castes as less intelligent and incapable of understanding. We are paying the price for it today.
