first of all, oscars are not considered the best awards by americans themselves, or atleast serious film viewers and intelllectual crowd. Oscar in america is for masses, the classes and intellectuals prefer sundance and other festivals. but still oscars are credible, more than our filmfare and manikchand gutkha awards. as far as comparison of bollywood and western cinema, dont even compare. our best director satyajit ray was hardly known in india before he was recognized by western audience. and days of hrishikesh mukherjee are over. we had some good cinema in 70's but thats about it. also, remeber many indians like me prefer watching western over bollywood (atleast as long as they dont come out of cheap boy meets girl stories)..and we have every right to talk about this..whether RSS types dislike or americans. i dont care
